Altar'D State Staffers Julie Dentici &
Jessica Carroll with the donationsAltar'D State, a new, contemporary Christian store in Brookwood Mall has hit the ground running. Though they just recently opened in Birmingham, they have already been making an impact in our community.
Altar'D State, in addition to volunteering to help serve meals at the Jimmie Hale Mission, also began conducting a food drive to help stock the pantry. Spear-headed by employee Lauren Wright, Altar'D State began a campaign where shoppers who brought in 3 canned goods received 10% off discount of their total purchase.
Though the campaign continues to run through April 30th, they have already collected a lot of food to help feed the homeless and hungry. According to Ms. Wright, "We are having such a great time with our food drive and volunteering. I definitely think the food drive is going to be a success!"

All the food donations collected - so far!Thank you so much to Altar'D State and their shoppers who have helped make this donation possible!

2011Art show benefits the Jimmie Hale Mission...

Energen Chairman James McManus and
Jimmie Hale Mission Exe. Dir. Tony Cooper
This past weekend, the Energen Corporation recently held its annual art competition. Energen's art competition celebrates the wonders of Alabama art and features artists in our state. Five winning entries were chosen to be displayed permanently at Energen's headquarters in downtown Birmingham.
What makes this event even more picture-esq is the fact that this year's competition not only helped local artists, but also local people who are hurting and hungry. A portion of the proceeds from this year's competition was donated to the Jimmie Hale Mission.
Video of Energen's Donation to the Jimmie Hale MissionOn Sunday, March 27 a reception was held to recognize the winners and to present the Jimmie Hale Mission with the check donation - a donation totaling $20,000!
Tony Cooper, the Mission's executive director was on-hand to accept this donation for the Mission and explain how this donation will help Birmingham's hurting and homeless men, women and children.
Thank you so much to the kind folks at Energen for selecting the Jimmie Hale Mission to benefit from this year's event. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful supporters!

2011The Jimmie Hale Mission celebrates its 67th anniversary...
Mission namesake & founder
Jimmie HaleMarch is always an exciting time at the Mission. Not only is it getting warmer with the changing of the season, it is our anniversary month as well. On March 25, 1944, Jimmie and Jessie Hale founded the Mission. So this month we are celebrating our 67th year of ministry. Praise the Lord!
What started as a storefront chapel has grown to include our Business Office, Shepura Men's Center, Royal Pines Recovery Center, Mission Possible Bargain Centers, Stewart Learning Centers, and Jessie's Place for women and children, which celebrates its 13th year of service this month as well.
Only Heaven will tell how many people have been ministered to, how many needs addressed, how many hurts healed, how many hearts touched, and how many lives changed.
Thank you for being a part of what God is doing through the Jimmie Hale Mission ministries.
In His Service,
Tony Cooper
Executive Director
