  •      When Scotty first began sharing his testimony, he began by quoting scripture from the book of John.  It was clear he truly related to the story of Peter, when Jesus asked Peter three times if he really loved Him.  “I believe that Peter had a powerful encounter with Jesus and after that third time, when Peter gave in, that changed his life radically,” Scotty said.

“Just like Peter, I have denied Jesus in my past,” Scotty recalled.  “I’m sure Peter felt just like I did when he denied Him.”  Scotty continued that the further he got from Jesus, the worse things in his life got.  “I was finally so far down in the dirt, that I had nowhere to look but up, up to Him for help.”

Scotty’s problems with alcohol had caused him to lose his family, friends and anything else that mattered to him.  “When I first came to Royal Pines, it was the first time in my life I had an encounter with Jesus Christ,” Scotty said.  “I felt unspeakable love, joy and peace and I thank God today for what He has done in my life.”

Scotty referred back to the story of Peter.  Scotty believes that it was after that third time Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him, that Peter had his own “powerful encounter.”  “I’m sure Peter felt as nervous as I did, the first time he said ‘Yes Lord, I love You,’” Scotty reflected.

“Since that day, I have been blessed beyond belief,” Scotty mused.  “My family has been restored, I’ve met new friends that love Jesus as much as I do, but most of all my relationship with Jesus Christ has been restored.”

Jonathan graduated from Royal Pines Recovery Center over five years ago, and still to this day, he recognizes that “I have been truly blessed by God.” He has a good job and recently bought his first home. “Royal Pines helped me to find my new-found faith that would help me recover.”

Don't miss out on a chance to tour the Mission's Royal Pines facility...

Client studies his Bible at the Cross at our Royal Pines facility

Since 2010, the Jimmie Hale Mission has been offering tours of its facilities including Jessie's Place, Shepura Men's Center and Royal Pines Recovery Center.  However, because of the rural setting of the Royal Pines Recovery Center, tours of this facility do not happen often.  (It was designed this way to better benefit our clients).

Typically, tours at Royal Pines are only offered once a year.  And this year's tour of Royal Pines is getting close!  The 2011 Royal Pines tour is scheduled for this Friday, July 15, at 1 p.m.

The tour will last approximately an hour and give attendees a behind-the-scenes look at our facility.  Called the "I Had No Idea" tour, guests often leave saying "I had no idea!"  The tours are a great educational opportunity for the whole family and donations are not solicited.

If you would like to sign up for this Fridays tour - or any upcoming tour - you can sign up online here.  Registration is required simply for an accurate head-count.

Click here for more information on our Royal Pines facility and directions.

We hope to see you there!

  •      HUD: Rural Americans increasingly turn to shelters...

The Jimmie Hale Mission dorm often exceeds capacity - even though beds are full,
no one is turned away.  Cots and blankets construct make-shift beds.

According to a report released fromthe Associated Press, thousands more people are turning to homeless shelters as an effect of recession gripping America.

As reported by Kimberly Hefling of the AP, "The number of people using shelters or transitional housing in suburban and rural areas increased 57% from 20007 to 2010, with more than 500,000 people from smaller communities seeking help in 2010."  Hefling cites a report from the Housing and Urban Development Department.

Later in the report, Hefling noted that women and children make up the majority of new homelessness - something that the Jimmie Hale Mission has witnessed for years at Jessie's Place, its shelter for women and children.

To see how the Jimmie Hale Mission ministries is working to combat this effect, visit our Men's Center, Jessie's Place or Royal Pines Recovery Center page.  You can help fight homelessness by volunteering or making a donation.

“My story begins in a small southern town with parents and grandparents who knew the importance of having a relationship with Jesus Christ,” Jonathan began.  “But I found it boring and useless and thought all I had to do was give Him a couple of hours a week.”

Jonathan is now a proud homeowner

As he grew older and moved on to high school, Jonathan discovered a passion for science, but because in his
mind, God and science could not co-exist, “I abandoned my spiritual training.... Science had become the answer to all my questions; I even called myself an atheist,” Jonathan recalled.

He eventually fell into a “partying lifestyle” and started using meth. “Because of my background in science and chemistry, I assumed selling meth could be quite lucrative,” Jonathan said. “I started selling in order to support my own addiction, but I knew that if I was ever caught, the consequences would be more than I wanted to pay.”

During this time, Jonathan’s family had continued to pray for him, asking God to help him through this time. Even when Jonathan was arrested and sent to jail, and as Jonathan put it, “I had little hope in recovery.” His family continued to pray and have faith. “Because of their prayers and faith, I was given an opportunity to go to Royal Pines,”
    Jonathan said.

Jonathan graduated from Royal Pines Recovery Center over five years ago, and still to this day, he recognizes that “I have been truly blessed by God.” He has a good job and recently bought his first home. “Royal Pines helped me to find my new-found faith that would help me recover.”
