Western Supermarket shoppers help feed the homeless...
Darwin Metcalf & Ken Hubbard of Western presents
check to Tony Cooper of Jimmie Hale Mission
Since 2001, Western Supermarket customers have helped feed the homeless and hungry of the Jimmie Hale Mission by taking advantage of the Scan-A-Meal program offered during the holidays. While checking out, shoppers can elect to donate $1.95 to provide a meal for a homeless man, woman or child.
And for the tenth year in a row, Western's efforts have made a big difference. Western Supermarket's President Darwin Metcalf and CEO Ken Hubbard present a check for $12,263 to Tony Cooper, executive director of the Jimmie Hale Mission. That translates to 6,289 warm meals!
Metcalf and Hubbard recently came to the Mission to present their check and while they were here, they took a tour of the kitchen where their funds will be put to use. At that time, the Jimmie Hale Mission also wanted to recognize Western's 10-year partnership in feeding the hungry, and honored Western by naming the Mission's kitchen in their honor.
