This October, the Jimmie Hale Mission and the nonprofit One Warm Coat are working together in the first annual 1 Warm Kid campaign. The 1 Warm Kid project aims to collect coats for kids in need and their goal is to collect as many coats for kids as possible.
The coat drive begins on October 11 and runs through October 31, 2010. Schools, service groups and the community in general are encouraged to donate coats to their local P.S. from Aeropostale store. Coats received from stores in the Birmingham, AL area will be dropped off to the kids at Jessie's Place, our shelter for women and children.
Plus, for every coat donated, Aeropostale will match that donation by giving a brand new coat to that shelter (up to 100,000 total). As a way to say thank you, those who donate will receive 25% off their total purchase at P.S. from Aeropostale stores.
To encourage as much participation in this drive as possible, P.S. from Aeropostale is also running a contest with this drive. The top 3 schools who collect the most coats will receive a reward for all their hard work. The top school will also receive an in-school party to celebrate their accomplishment.
