2010Morgan Brantley of Girl Scouts Troop 2280 scouted out a new way to help those in need. She chose to volunteer for the Jimmie Hale Mission by holding a Fun Fitness Field Day in an effort to educate children and their parents on ways to prevent childhood obesity and how proper fitness makes for a healthy lifestyle.

Morgan Brantley scouted out new ways help othersOne of Morgan's Fitness events was held at our women and children's shelter, Jessie's Place. Morgan came to Jessie's Place and had various speakers talk about how kids and adults could improve their health. She also offered fitness demonstrations and passed out a pamphlet of her own creation to help educate others on healthy living.
For her efforts, Morgan received the highest level of Girl Scout achievement, the Gold Award, which recognizes a Girl Scout's commitment to herself, her community, and her future. Morgan is a graduate of Shades Valley High School and currently attends Birmingham Southern College. She is also the daughter of Clotele Brantley of Birmingham, a former board member of the Jimmie Hale Mission.
Thanks so much Morgan and we so are proud of you!
