Store and Mission Tag Team Donation Efforts
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Oct. 23, 2009 - Old Navy and the Jimmie Hale Mission will be teaming up to distribute warm coats to the homeless and hurting this fall. Old Navy will host the One Warm Coat drive at its four Birmingham area locations: Trussville, Wildwood, Crestwood/Eastwood and the Summit. They will begin accepting donations of gently-used coats on October 23, and the drive will run through November 5.
Donations of coats will go to help the men, women and children of the Jimmie Hale Mission and Jessie's Place, the Mission's women and children's shelter. The Jimmie Hale Mission, which was founded in 1944, has helped the homeless and hurting get back to life for 65 years. Executive Director Tony Cooper commented, "While we have always been blessed to help those less fortunate, we are grateful to God for blessing us with this opportunity to help even more people."
The four participating Old Navy stores will also be collecting canned or non-perishable food donations to help feed the hungry at the Jimmie Hale Mission.
Shoppers who donate a coat or outerwear accessory will receive a 10% off discount on their entire purchase at the time of the donation. In addition to 10% off, they will also receive a coupon for 10% off during the Old Navy outerwear sale from November 6 through 12.
