Throughout the summer, the Jimmie Hale Mission's Shepura Men's Center was blessed to host many community leaders who wanted to share with the men we serve.

These speakers have shared their testimonies, life stories and heart-felt advice to the men we serve in hopes that they will be inspired to live for God.

Rev Arthur Price of 16th Street Baptist Church prays with a program participant.

  •      Do you know about Discovery Clubs?

Discovery Clubs is the newest member of the Jimmie Hale Mission's family of ministries.  We're so blessed to include them as a way to reach out to children in the public school system.

Here, a volunteer works with a child in a local Discovery Club

In short, Discovery Clubs is an after-school, on-campus program where we share the Gospel with children in elementary school.  But for a really good explanation of this program, check out this in-depth interview that ABC 33/40 conducted with the director of Discovery Clubs, Sharon Ezell.

  •      We have a winner for the "Fastest Servers in the South"  competition as part of our Christmas in August celebration...

Last year, we kicked off our annual Christmas in August celebration with a volunteer competition.  Groups of volunteers from local companies served lunch with us in a friendly competition to see who could serve the fastest.  It was such a hit, that we decided to do it again!

Congratulations to our winners, a volunteer group of employees from
Southern Co./Alabama Power who served up a time of 3:18!

Last year's winning group was Waste Management, who served lunch to the men of our Shepura Men's Center with a winning time of two minues and 43 seconds.  However, we had almost an entirely new roster of competiting teams this year, so in the beginning, there was no clear front-runner.
