Shepura Men’s Center, the oldest of the Jimmie Hale Mission ministries, has relocated to the corner of 2nd Avenue North and 35th Street North. The men’s center was named in honor of the late “Brother Leo” Shepura, co-director of the Mission for 36 years.
This facility consists of a 160-bed men’s shelter, men’s clothing distribution, nightly chapel services and a two-phase, residential recovery program. On an average, Shepura Men’s Center serves nearly 9,000 meals per month.
The men’s center does not want to play the role of an enabler but strives to become a stepping stone for men to improve their lives. The staff encourages men to enroll in the two-phase recovery program that includes:

Construction Timeline
| August 2005 |
The Jimmie Hale Mission broke ground and started construction at the old Thomas School. Phase one included renovation of the three-story school which currently houses the new men’s shelter and residential recovery program. |
| January 2007 |
The relocation of the men’s center increased the shelter capacity, providing 160 beds on those cold nights. Phase one also included a new building for a kitchen and dining area, along with a multi-purpose section. |
| Summer 2007 |
Phase two began which included adding a chapel to this new building along with a third structure which will be our administrative and educational facility. |
